How do people make a donation to my fundraising page?
Go to www.alzheimerwalkrun.ca and click on the Donate button. Here, they can search for your name or your team’s name. You can also share your personal page URL and have them donate directly on that page.
How can I see who has donated to me?
Sign in to your Participant Centre. Type in the username and password that you received when you registered. You can then view your donor list and the amounts that have been donated.
Some of my donors are not showing up on the scroll mechanism. Why?
As your donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the recognition scroll. Some donors may have chosen to remain anonymous.
I have a very young child. Do I need to pay a registration fee for them?
Registration fees cover event costs for participants, like race timing. If your child will not require the race timing, or any of the other event resources, you do not need to pay a registration fee for them.
How am I creating change for local families?
The funds you raise through donations or pledges beyond your registration fee go directly to support local families impacted by dementia through Alzheimer Calgary. Your fundraising efforts support local programs and services that serve thousands of people living with dementia. Thanks to you, Calgarians can access high-quality care, much-needed education, and compassionate support at Alzheimer Calgary throughout their journey with dementia.
Registration Fee and Raising Pledges
Is a portion of the registration fee a donation?
No, unfortunately. The registration fee helps us cover the costs of the event itself. Any donations or pledges collected above and beyond the registration fee will directly support local families impacted by dementia. These funds are applied to local programs and services that serve thousands of people living with dementia in Calgary. Tax receipts will be issued for donations and pledges of $10 or more.
Can I get a refund?
As this is a charity event, we are unable to offer refunds for registration fees. If you are unable to attend the Walk & Run, we can turn your registration fee into a donation and provide you with a tax receipt.
I’m not comfortable with using the online system. Can I continue to register and raise pledges/donations the “old way”?
Yes. If you are not comfortable using this platform, you may register for the event by calling us at 403-290-0110 or sending us an email at walkrun@alzheimercalgary.ca. Pledge forms can be downloaded and printed under the Participants section of the web page.

I’d like to volunteer, but I’d also like to participate as a walker/runner. How?
There are a number of people who help out with event preparations leading up to the event, then participate in the event. If you’d like to volunteer AND participate, you must sign up to be a volunteer.

Website, Online Account and Technical Issues
How can I stop emails from dropping into my junk folder?
Go into your junk folder and highlight the specific message you want to mark as “not junk.” Right-click on it and select the Junk option and a secondary drop-down menu will appear. You can select Not Junk and the email should be put into your inbox immediately. You can also select Never Block Sender or Never Block Sender’s Domain.
I’ve sent emails to my contacts, but for some reason, they aren’t receiving them. Why?
Alzheimer Calgary has done extensive testing to ensure that emails will be sent and received with ease using most email platforms. However, we cannot control any extra-sensitive settings on some spam filter software. In most cases, this applies to corporate email accounts that may be set to a higher degree of safeguarding. If you encounter this difficulty, please ask your contact to check their Junk folder. They can prevent future email from filtering into junk by marking the message as Not Junk and by adding the email address to their safe list. In some cases, additional information about this can be determined by asking them to get in touch with their IT department.
Why is the "Support a person or team" search not finding a participant I know has registered?
You must type in the first name or last name of the participant with the exact spelling used when the person registered. You may wish to try different variations of spelling, or double check the spelling you are using. These fields are not case sensitive.
I received a website address in my confirmation email. What is it for?
This website address will take you to your personal web page. It also gives you access to your own Participant Centre for fundraising and communicating your passion for the cause. You can also copy and paste that link into any other form of an email.
COVID-19 Safety
We take your safety seriously. As we welcome everyone back to an in-person event again this year, please note that we will do everything we can to create a safe environment for you and your loved ones.
Alzheimer Calgary and MultiSportsCanada will be monitoring any local and provincial health mandates leading up to the race. Participants will be notified of any changes or updates to the event if necessary.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare to gather again in support of local families impacted by dementia.

We use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet.
