Dear friends and family,
Did you know that right now in Canada, there are over 600,000 people living with dementia?
It’s hard to believe, but it’s one of the many reasons why I’m taking part in the 2025 Alzheimer Calgary Walk & Run on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
The truth, is dementia affects us all. For every person diagnosed, 10 to 12 are directly impacted. This can be their caregivers, families, friends, neighbours, coworkers, and more.
Dementia (and it's most common form, Alzheimer’s disease) affects a person’s thinking, memory, and behaviour. It’s a fatal, progressive, and degenerative disease of the brain. There are currently no known causes or cures.
I have been asked again this year by one of the current Race Ambassadors and advocate, Ron Freckleton, who is a resident of Trinity Lodge (who was directly affected by losing his wife to Alzheimer's to be a coach for our residence's Walker's Walk).

I am challenging myself again to go a step further and do the Walk/Run at Princess Island Park for Team Trinity. Through my career in recreation/fitness I have worked with people with various degrees of dementia and Alzheimer's. I would love to support this cause.
This is why I’m racing on Thanksgiving Sunday in support of the Alzheimer Society of Calgary.
All funds raised at this event will ensure local families impacted by dementia can access the education, care, and support they need.
Will you help me make a difference in the lives of so many Calgarians?
Please consider making a secure donation online here on my Personal Page [Hint: Insert link to your personal page here!] or contributing to me in person. Every little bit helps create life-changing support for people living with dementia.
